Half Marathon 2017 review

Thank you to all runners for taking part this year and all the volunteers.  All are needed to make our event successful.

We had good conditions but the Uist wind proved challenging for all runners.

Particular congratulations to Keith Hood, Corstorphine AAC, who won the race in a time of 1:18:12, having caught up and finally overtook Ewan Crawford of Hunters Bog Trotters who finished second, 12 seconds behind.  Third home was Andrew Cummings, also Hunters Bog Trotters.

The first lady home was Gillian Carr, Corstorphine AAC who came home in 1:34:40, just over a minute ahead of Lina Karlsson (01:35:55) who was on holiday from Sweden.  Third was local Gemma Beaton in 1:41:48.

Well done to all runners.

In 2017 we were backing 1 Million Miles for Ellie, a drive to raise £1m for Cancer Research UK, Maggies and MacMillan Cancer Support in memory of local girl Ellie MacDonald, who passed away in 2014 following a battle with cancer.

Sponsorship forms were designed with the help of Cancer Research UK and approved by the other two charities so that participants could gift aid money raised.  In addition to money raised, the total distance run at each race could be added to the Million Miles target.
